Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) applauded President Donald Trump's recent announcement of a commission program for reporting government waste, fraud, and abuse in a recent social media post, saying that "all Americans have a stake" in ensuring their money is spent wisely.

The Context

On Tuesday, Trump announced a program that lets Americans report waste, fraud, and abuse in government programs and, in return, receive a "commission" of 1% of the money swindled.

"We're going to make it very easy and very quick, and people can make a lot of money," said Trump.

What Biggs is Saying

"All Americans have a stake in helping the government stop fraud, waste, and abuse," Rep. Biggs posted on X, adding, "It's your money; you should demand nothing less than public servants wisely stewarding every penny."

Rep. Biggs called on "all Arizona officials to join the federal government in its quest to eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse. This is not a partisan issue, and it's critical to our future prosperity and security as a nation."

Biggs vs Fraud

The Arizona congressman has been a crusader against fraud in recent months, chairing a House Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee hearing in January on the Minnesota welfare fraud scandal and saying the issue's politicization prevents a solution.

In May, Biggs commented on Medicaid fraud in Arizona after federal law enforcement arrested dozens involved in fraud rings, including one of the largest based in the Grand Canyon State.

"The biggest ring came right out of Arizona," Biggs said, adding, "I want to say it was like over $2 billion. And the mention of Maseratis and fancy vacations and stuff for a group of physicians."

Most recently, he backed the Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act, which requires states to conduct an annual Medicaid fraud risk assessment and identify the most apparent waste, fraud, and abuse vulnerabilities.
