Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) condemned remarks made by Representative Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) saying conservative officials will be prosecuted as a deterrent tactic in a recent social media post.

Slotkin's Remarks

During a panel discussion at a University of Chicago event last week, Rep. Slotkin spoke of wanting to pursue "signature cases" against President Donald Trump and members of his administration, apparently to keep young people from pursuing careers in his government.

"I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president, but on the people who enabled him," said Rep. Slotkin, adding, "I want young people coming out of school to say, 'should I go work for the Trump administration? Like, that sounds fun, I might get an opportunity.' I want them to be like, 'Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want, and so let me avoid participating in that.' I want that deterrence message."

Her comments quickly went viral, causing widespread backlash and criticism.

Biggs' Response

"When Republicans disagree with the political opposition, we take our arguments to the hearts and minds of the American people," Rep. Biggs posted on X, adding, "When members of the radical left disagree with their political opponents, they often threaten, harass, and persecute them."

Additionally, he emphasized that "tragically, the recent statement from U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin is not an outlier or a misstatement. Rather, it embodies what we have seen and experienced from the radical left - especially over the past decade."

"This rhetoric, and the will to make it a frightening reality, flies in the face of how our country's founders established our constitutional republic—the shining city on a hill," Rep. Biggs continued.

The Arizona congressman concluded, "These threats and subsequent actions must end. Our nation cannot stand with one party resorting to such tactics. For the sake and future of our great country, let's agree to disagree, remembering that we are all Americans who want what's best for our children and grandchildren."
