Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) is alleging that Democrats are "panicked" about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents patrolling polling stations, suggesting they want illegal aliens to vote.
On Tuesday, the Democratic Party announced it is filing a lawsuit against the Trump Administration, claiming the White House has repeatedly ignored Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests about whether ICE will be present at polling stations. A dozen FOIA requests have been submitted.
"Trump is trying to cheat and intimidate his way through midterms he knows the GOP will lose. We're fighting back," the post says.
In response, Rep. Hamadeh commented, "There is no other reason Democrats are so panicked about ICE patrolling near polling stations than their fear that illegal immigrants won't be allowed inside them to vote." "In other words, they're suing and fighting to block enforcement that stops illegal voting, while doing their best to ensure illegal immigrants can vote anyway."
Rep. Hamadeh has been a strong proponent of election integrity measures, with one of his first bills introduced as a member of Congress being legislation mandating that election ballots can only be printed in English, no other foreign language, last March.
In April, the Arizona freshman introduced a bill codifying President Donald Trump's election security measures, including provisions requiring proof of U.S. citizenship, provisions that ballots must be tabulated strictly on Election Day, and eligibility verification.
A second bill introduced in April was the Preventing Ranked Choice Corruption Act, which bans the ranked-choice voting system that Hamadeh calls "flawed."
Later, in July, Hamadeh introduced the Preserving Residency for Overseas Voter Eligibility (Prove) Act, which tightens laws surrounding American expats living abroad voting domestically by requiring that they provide proof of residency in a state to vote. If they cannot prove residency, their vote is tallied as being from Washington, D.C.
