Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) condemned an attack on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in McAllen, Texas, in a recent post to X (formerly Twitter).
Rep. Biggs reposted a tweet from Fox News journalist Bill Melugin, which said, "Three federal & TX law enforcement sources tell me an active shooter with a rifle & tactical gear ambushed Border Patrol agents as they arrived at a Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen, TX this morning."
"Local police and federal agents returned fire, killing him. I'm told this was a purposeful ambush/attack against federal agents, and a press conference is planned for later this morning," Melugin added. "No federal agents injured. I'm told a McAllen police officer may have been shot, but is in stable condition."
The Hill provided more information, identifying the shooter as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, who was found with two rifles and ammunition. The motive currently remains unknown. Notably, the shooting occurred several days after a similar attack in Alvarado, resulting in several armed individuals being arrested.
In Rep. Biggs's response to Melugin's post, he said, "This act of terror was fueled by Democrats' vocal hatred of immigration law and our great ICE agents."
"Threats to harm or dox law enforcement officers, especially those made by elected officials, must stop," the Arizona Congressman added. "May God protect our law enforcement officers."
Biggs shared a screenshot from Axios, which described how the Democratic voter base has supposedly reached out to lawmakers demanding greater acts of resistance to President Donald Trump's agenda, up to and including apparent martyrdom.
"Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot," a Democrat lawmaker told Axios under anonymity, adding, "Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public."
Earlier in June, Biggs condemned remarks from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), in which he vowed to unmask ICE agents despite the masks being worn because they have been subject to death threats, harassment, and doxxing.
"This is reprehensible. The House Minority Leader threatened to dox our courageous @ICEgov agents for protecting our communities. Democrats continue to be pro-crime and anti-law enforcement," said Biggs.
