GLENDALE— Former NFL placekicker and sports analyst Jay Feely has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, focusing on God, family, service, and President Donald Trump’s America First agenda as the reasons for his jump into politics.
The married father of 6 outlined that his deep faith brought him to the decision to run for elected office, not to mention his wife’s longstanding hope that he would eventually run for public office.
Feely, who said that President Trump talked to him about running for office several years ago, checks off all the MAGA boxes, and his longstanding relationship with President Trump could put him in a comfortable position of possibly garnering the coveted political endorsement in the country.

When asked about the first assassination attempt against President Trump and his decision to run for Congress, Feely said that the attempt on Trump pushed him to consider a congressional run.
“When you see somebody who's willing to literally, potentially give their life for our country and you start asking yourself, ‘What am I doing and can I do more,’ and that's I think where you know my heart started to like lean towards running for office,” said Feely.
Feely is running to replace his friend Rep. Andy Biggs (R), who recently announced his intentions to run for Governor of Arizona.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R) has already endorsed Feely's congressional candidacy.
Considering that Arizona’s 5th District is a safe Republican seat, it is expected that up to 6-8 candidates will run to replace Rep. Biggs
