Ciscomani Talks Government Cuts

Representative Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) commented to Cactus Politics about the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) efforts, telling us he is "always going to be levelheaded" about where spending and efficiency cuts can be made without compromising essential services.

Rep. Ciscomani began by describing to us how "I cannot tell you the amount of people that came up to me saying, 'keep it up, we want this, we need it.' The government has been growing so much."

However, he noted that constituents also ask that Medicare and other government services remain intact, as rural areas benefit more from federal assistance.

"And that is why I have been very vocal about protecting Pell Grants and protecting Medicare. There are things we absolutely— Medicaid, specifically— that we need to be protecting," Rep. Ciscomani continued.

Nevertheless, the Arizona Congressman suggested that DOGE's cuts and President Donald Trump have been received positively, pointing to recent poll numbers showing an overwhelmingly positive reception to the President's recent joint address to Congress.

Senator Ruben Gallego: Mark Kelly is American hero who served this country as a Navy combat pilot and an astronaut. Elon Musk is trying to fire 80,000 people from the VA. Only one of these guys is a traitor. Hint: it’s the one who’s never been to space.

Representative Andy Biggs: In just 50 days, President Trump has: Secured the border Reduced the size and scope of the federal government Encouraged peace throughout the world America’s Golden Age is here! The best is yet to come.

Representative Eli Crane: UPDATE: The House just passed my bill, the Subterranean Border Defense Act, 402-1. This is my second bill to pass the House in the 119th Congress. Last month, my bill to enable the permanent operation of the Pleasant Valley Veterans Retreat Center passed by voice vote.

Representative Juan Ciscomani: Congratulations to my dear friend @LChavezDeRemer on her confirmation as Labor Secretary! Lori is the right person to deliver on the President's agenda and I know she will do a great job for the workers in our country!

Representative Abe Hamadeh: We have an opportunity to pass a CLEAN President-Trump endorsed CR that will keep the government working while we work to make it more efficient and responsive to the American people. The Democrats seem to want chaos for chaos' sake.

Representative Yassamin Ansari: This is not a ‘clean’ continuing resolution, but a bill that hurts many of my constituents. The Republican CR recklessly cuts billions in funding for critical programs, including veterans’ healthcare and rental assistance.

State Senator Janae Shamp: In just five years, our state alone is projected to have a shortage of 8,280 doctors. Yet, Arizona offers just 587 residency positions a year. Unsurprisingly, our healthcare workforce shortage stands among the worst in the nation.

State Senator Jake Hoffman: FIRE KATIE HOBBS

State Senator Anthony Kern: Collecting signatures for Mesa recall… Lots of voters sign immediately upon hearing Mesa Councilmember Julie Spilsbury voted to allow boys into girls bathrooms!! Voters have had enough of the lunacy! @TPAction_

State Representative Oscar De Los Santos: HYPOCRISY: Arizona Republicans are salivating for supplemental spending for ESA entitlements. But they’re holding hostage supplemental aid for disability services for people with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

Maricopa County Supervisor Debbie Lesko: Joe and I send our sincerest prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of @GlendaleAZPD Officer Jesse Rodriguez. Rest in peace.
