Last July, the Mexican government sued American gun manufacturers for their supposed role in cartel violence, a legal battle Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ) urged the Supreme Court to dismiss outside the building on Tuesday, mocking a heckler who repeatedly interrupted him throughout the short address.
Rep. Crane posted the speech to X (formerly Twitter), saying, "SCOTUS must dismiss Mexico v Smith & Wesson. Mexico is attempting to gaslight US businesses instead of taking responsibility for groveling to the cartels. I appreciate this heckler for highlighting the ignorance surrounding the Constitution that's often used to target our 2A."

"Obviously, we are here today because Mexico is alleging that the US firearms companies are aiding in the trafficking of firearms into Mexico. Really? What proof do you guys have of that?" Rep. Crane began within the clip, and the heckler laughed dismissively in the background.
From there, the Arizona Congressman urged the Supreme Court to "take down this lawsuit and dismiss it," adding that the Mexican government's suit "sounds like a deflection to me of where the real responsibility lies. They do not want to deal with the cartels. If you want to stop the violence in Mexico, you should start by looking at your cartels and your corrupt politicians that are in bed with them."
"I would also warn the Mexican government to tread lightly with these lawsuits," Crane continued, "it is pretty clear that they brought these lawsuits under a weak, incompetent administration, the Biden-Harris Administration. Well. I have got news for you: We have a new administration coming into town [and] it will not tolerate this."
Moreover, he warned Mexico that "if you want to open Pandora's Box by having Mexico sue the United States and our gun manufacturers who are providing the American citizens the ability to bear and keep arms, lawfare can flow both ways. We have plenty of grievances with Mexico and their inability to stop the cartels and the 100,000 Americans dying every single year because of fentanyl."
At the end of the clip, Crane finally acknowledged the heckler, mockingly calling it "beautiful just watching this heckler and protester over here who does not want to hear our argument. She just wants to be loud and annoying. Well, congratulations, ma'am, you have been 100% effective."
