The Thursday debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump has sparked concerns about the health and well-being of President Biden, with some calling for his dropping out of the 2024 Election. Representative Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) has become the second elected official to support the measure, saying, "If he’s the candidate, I’m going to support him, but I think that this is an opportunity to look elsewhere."
The New York Times received Rep. Grijalva's comments in a recent interview, where he added, "What he needs to do is shoulder the responsibility for keeping that seat — and part of that responsibility is to get out of this race."
The Arizona Congressman expressed support for the measure just hours after Texas Democrat Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first to call for Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race, saying while he also is behind the President, "many Americans have indicated dissatisfaction with their choices in this election."

"President Biden has continued to run substantially behind Democratic senators in key states and in most polls has trailed Donald Trump. I had hoped that the debate would provide some momentum to change that. It did not. Instead of reassuring voters, the President failed to effectively defend his many accomplishments and expose Trump's many lies," Rep. Doggett added.
Democratic Party insiders have said the President's poor showing in the first debate, noticeably struggling with speaking and answering questions with his Republican adversary has sent the Party into disarray, with both Representative Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Representative Susie Lee (D-NV) acknowledging the mental decline Biden displayed.
"I think we have some decisions to make as a party. We’ve got to have that discussion immediately. "I love [Biden]. He’s such a good and decent man, but that performance last night was dreadful," Rep. Lynch allegedly said, while Rep. Lee said Biden's performance was "awful."
