Yesterday a USAToday report uncovered that the Va Health Care system has been using an internal 5-star rating system to rate the quality of VA hospitals across the country. The Phoenix VA which has been involved in every VA scandal imaginable unsurprisingly gets only 1 star, the worst ranking, from the VA itself.
The ratings below are as of the 2nd quarter of this year and are compared to the 4th quarter of 2015. The 2015 ratings are the ones found by USAToday, and the VA provided the 1-star and 5-star ratings for 2016, not the ones in the middle.
So after years of "reforms" and talk about how to improve the system, and reshuffling high management personell, the Phoenix VA remains at the bottom of all the VA hospitals across the country. How bad is this? Only 10 out of 146 hospitals received a 1-star rating, while 17 received a 5-star rating. The Tucson Va Hospital received a 2-star rating.
