Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ) commented on the developing story of welfare fraud in Minnesota, calling it "out of control." Governor Tim Walz is accused of allowing the fraud to take place.

The New York Post reports that the fraud case centers on a nonprofit organization called Feeding Our Future, which fraudulently billed Minnesota approximately $1 billion over five years to allegedly feed needy children.

However, the money was reportedly spent elsewhere, on foreign real estate projects, luxury cars, and more, with many of the perpetrators of the scheme being Somali migrants.

Over the weekend, staff at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) publicly blasted Gov. Waltz in a post to X, writing, "We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud, but no, we got the opposite response."

"Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports," the post continues, adding, "Instead of partnership, we got the full weight of retaliation by Tim Walz, certain [Democratic Farmer-Labor Party] members, and an indifferent mainstream media. It's scary, isolating, and left us wondering who we can turn to."

Responding to the post, Rep. Crane wrote, "As much as you might think this is isolated to Tim Walz and Minnesota, you've got to wonder what other states are doing the same… The fraud is out of control. And it's all at YOUR expense."

In Arizona, Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) is at the center of an investigation into a supposed pay-to-play scheme involving Sunshine Residential Homes, a significant donor to her gubernatorial campaign that received a 30% rate increase compared to other group home organizations.

Notably, the rate increase request was granted despite DCS already being in a budget shortfall and seeking to reduce reliance on private group homes.
