Senator Mark Kelly appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" this week to discuss presidential accountability and constitutional responsibilities.
During the interview, Mark Kelly addressed the scope of presidential power and expressed his views on congressional oversight. He indicated that some Republican colleagues have privately expressed concerns about certain presidential conduct, although he noted that these conversations have not translated into public action.
"I wish. Every day I show up in Washington and wish that today is the day that somebody's going to grow a spine and do something publicly," Kelly stated during the show.
The senator explained that presidents have considerable power, sometimes even more than the law allows, and discussed the importance of the Constitution and the balance of power among the branches of government.

Ciscomani emphasized specific issues, writing that "avoiding a disastrous government shutdown is in the hands of Senate Democrats." "Late night TV interviews aren’t going to help make sure our border agents get paid, or keep the Grand Canyon open. This guy is AZ’s Senior Senator. Do. Your. Job," he added.
Ciscomani was referring to several pressing issues, including the risk of a government shutdown after President Trump canceled a key meeting with Democratic leaders. Without a deal, many federal services could stop, and workers might go unpaid starting October 1. He also pointed to problems in Arizona, like the North Rim of the Grand Canyon being closed due to wildfire damage, and delays in overtime pay for Border Patrol agents.
