In the midst of escalating tensions after President Trump's weekend strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, far-right activist Laura Loomer launched a series of anti-Muslim attacks on social media against Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, making untrue statements about the representative's background and religion.
The online confrontation began when Loomer posted on social media warning Americans to arm themselves against Muslims. "If you are a Christian or a Jew and you live in a city with a large Muslim population, you need to be armed," Loomer wrote on June 22. She went on to claim that "jihadists will try to harm anyone who they view as an infidel or an apostate."
