The results are in, and incumbent Attorney General (AG) Kris Mayes will serve another term, defeating State Senate President Warren Petersen (R-14).

The Results

The final tabulation puts AG Mayes at 59.60 percent of the vote, while State Sen. Petersen finished with 42.40 percent.

The Fight

Decision Desk HQ gave AG Mayes just over 6 points ahead of Petersen in the polls as of October 28th, but Petersen has fought hard since winning the primary in July, immediately attacking Mayes by saying, "I think what people will find is that I fall in line with the values of Arizonans, and Kris Mayes is out on the fringe on these 80-20 issues. She's siding in the 20 percent and leaving Arizona behind."

"It used to be that Democrats and Republicans had a lot of similarities. But now we're seeing a lot of these Democrat elected officials that have gone extremely far left, like Kris Mayes," Petersen added.

Last week, Petersen scored the endorsement of Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple, who described Petersen as having "a proven record of supporting law enforcement and being tough on crime. I know he will be an excellent Attorney General we can trust to fight the worst criminals and keep Arizona families safe."

Shortly after, Petersen ferociously criticized an ad put out by Mayes' campaign which claimed that Sen. Petersen voted against pro-police policies 100 times during his tenure in office and threatened law enforcement.

"Mayes is following the rules for radicals," State Sen. Petersen replied to the social media post, referencing Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. "She calls me what she is. Pay to play is Mayes. Harming law enforcement is Mayes. Mayes is a pathological liar. She lied to your face during our debate. Right into the camera about her unprofessional behavior. Then admitted afterwards that it was true. Now she has another lying ad that describes herself."
