State Representative Alexander Kolodin (R-3) is already proving himself the frontrunner in the Republican primary for the Arizona Secretary of State election.
NextGen Polling results show State Rep. Kolodin leading his Republican opponent, Arizona Republican Party Chair Gina Swoboda, by 9 points.
"Kolodin Establishes Early Advantage as the Arizona Secretary of State Primary Enters Its Defining Phase," NextGen Polling announced on social media. "Alex Kolodin retains a 8% net approval rating while Gina Swoboda only has a 1% net approval rating. The survey consisted of a random sample of 1,255 likely Republican primary voters and was conducted from April 13th through April 16th. Margin of error is ± 2.7% at the 95% confidence level."
In response, State Rep. Kolodin posted, "Proud to be leading my primary opponent by more than double. I’ve met thousands of voters at hundreds of events so far on the campaign trail! I’m running for AZSOS to bring honesty, transparency, and lawfulness back to Arizona elections."
The Maricopa County representative has a long list of figures lining up behind him to endorse his campaign, including Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Yuma County Recorder David Lara, State Senator Jake Hoffman (R-15), State Representatives Justin Olson (R-10), Rachel Keshel (R-17), and David Marshall (R-7), and former Representative Nancy Barto (R-15).
More sponsors include Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky, State Representative Beverly Pingerelli (R-28), Maricopa County School Superintendent Shelli Boggs, Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap, Avondale City Councilwoman Jeannette Garcia, Scottsdale Vice Mayor Jan Dubauskas, State Representative Lisa Fink (R-27), and State Representative Khyl Powell (R-14).
Kolodin initially ran claiming that Swoboda had endorsed him as well last April, but Swoboda herself, who is running for Secretary of State, said she would only support him if he wins the primary.
Judging by his healthy lead in the polls and the long list of endorsements, Kolodin looks like he could be getting Swoboda's blessing sooner rather than later.
