Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) chastised Democratic rhetoric surrounding Medicare and Medicaid in the so-called "big beautiful bill" in a recent appearance on the Joe Pags podcast, explaining the true nature of how the bill works.
Rep. Hamadeh posted the clip to X (formerly Twitter), saying, "The Democrats intentionally conflate Medicaid with Medicare to scare seniors. The reconciliation bill addresses Medicaid fraud; it doesn't touch Medicare. Our seniors are going to be protected. And every American is going to get a big tax cut. Congress must keep the ball moving forward on @POTUS' America First agenda."
Within the clip, Rep. Hamadeh further stated that "the reconciliation bill is going to have work requirements for those single males who are in the working population age."
"But do you see what the Democrats are doing?" The Arizona Congressman rhetorically asked. "They try gaslighting the people. A lot of people confuse Medicaid with Medicare. They really ought to change Medicaid to something else."
Nevertheless, Hamadeh reiterated that President Donald Trump swore to keep Medicare off-limits, "and we have to understand that with this reconciliation, with this big beautiful bill, we are actually giving a tax credit to seniors."
As he explained, the tax credit is because removing income tax from Social Security payments is not allowed under current statute, "but the workaround was to give [seniors] a tax credit."
Thus, Hamadeh explained how he is working with Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) to introduce a bill that would eliminate taxes from Social Security.
"The American people are going to get a big tax cut; it is going to work, and we just need to support President Trump and his America First agenda, keep the ball moving forward," the Arizona Congressman concluded.
Over the weekend, Hamadeh's colleague, Representative David Schweikert (R-AZ), teamed up with Americans for Prosperity's Arizona chapter to kick off a door-to-door campaign educating Phoenix residents on the importance of passing the tax cuts found within the "big beautiful bill."
