BUDAPEST—Speaking at CPAC Hungary 2025 on Thursday, Rep. Abe Hamadeh argued for limitations on flag displays other than the American flag.
Hosted by the Center for Fundamental Rights, the Conservative Political Action Conference Hungary, labeled "the world's largest gathering of the right," took place May 29–30 for the fourth year in a row.
Immigrant-born Hamadeh talked about his time serving in the Middle East during the Biden and Trump administrations. He claimed that the event helped him understand different approaches to leadership.

"I got to see firsthand the difference in leadership looks like, what strong and weak leadership looks like," Hamadeh said during his remarks.
Hamadeh said his overseas deployment changed his view of America upon his return.
"When I got home from my overseas deployment I no longer recognized America," he said, citing the display of flags associated with movements such as Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ advocacy as examples of changes he observed.
According to Hamadeh, these observations—which he describes as dangers to American identity—were the driving force behind his decision to enter politics.
"I am a danger because I speak the truth and don't fit their narrative," he told the audience.
Hamadeh suggested during the conference that the display of flags other than the American flag be prohibited, presenting the idea as a component of larger initiatives to address what he described as America's global problems.
"Every single one of you here today is a threat, and you're a target, because they see you as a threat to democracy," he told conference attendees.
In order to address what he described as the worldwide issues confronting America, Hamadeh suggested during the conference that the exhibition of flags other than the American flag be prohibited.
