Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) discussed President Donald Trump's trade policy with China in a recent appearance on Fox News, saying that "he needs to keep it up."
"China is an adversary, number one," Rep. Biggs continued, adding, "Number two, what this has done is, it has put incredible pressure on Xi Jinping and the Chinese economy there. We know that their national debt to GDP ratio is horrific, and is that causing some contraction or a slowing of growth in the economy of China?"
More to the point, Rep. Biggs claimed that "there is unrest in China, which we do not hear about a lot in the news, but it is actually happening where you are seeing unrest in China, and it is over the economy, and they are asking Xi Jinping to cut a deal."

"So I think Trump is on the right track here with China, and I think there is going to be somewhere an accord that happens, probably in the short to midterm range," The Arizona Congressman further suggested.
The host asked if the American economy will experience a recession in the near future due to the heavy tariffs Trump placed on China, as analysts fear, to which Biggs answered, "You only have about 15% of our economy that is actually going to be subjected to tariffs. The rest of our economy is not; that is number one."
"Number two, you are seeing record job creation and growth on the part of this economy, and that is really going to be going forward," Biggs noted, further saying, "That is going to happen. You are going to see this massive amount, over $55 trillion in capital investment commitment into the economy as well."
As a result, in addition to reinvestment in American manufacturing and exports, thanks to Trump's efforts to lower energy costs, "you will see a 40% cut in the overall price of things."
"So I think we are building a long-term, basically a revamped economy, and I think that is a good thing for us," the Arizona Congressman concluded, "There are always some issues that we have to face because there are going to be some short-term challenges, but I think long-term, we are going to have a great economy."
