Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) demanded recourse for the Phoenix Police Department following claims that the Biden-Harris Administration weaponized the Department of Justice (DOJ) against it.
The Phoenix PD was under scrutiny by the Biden DOJ for supposed racial discrimination, excessive force, and other civil rights violations toward the homeless and mentally disabled.
Rep. Hamadeh wrote to FBI Director Kash Patel urging for the report to be rescinded, saying it was "a desperate witch hunt."

"It is nothing more than an attempt to undercut valid police work, leaving my constituents - both officers and civilians - at risk," Rep. Hamadeh added, further suggesting, "Despite the Biden DOJ's baseless claims, our officers did everything right, voluntarily cooperating in good faith, opening their records, and participating in lengthy interviews. They were met with stonewalling, mischaracterized testimony, and a final report riddled with glaring inaccuracies."
For instance, an incident highlighted by the Biden DOJ involved 2017 protests against President Donald Trump in Phoenix, claiming Phoenix officers used excessive force in quelling the unrest.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the police's actions were lawful.
"The Biden DOJ ignored this and many other court-backed facts, choosing instead to cherry-pick narratives that support their political agenda," Hamadeh accused in his letter, adding, "The Biden DOJ sowed distrust, diverting millions from public safety, and discouraging officers - at the very moment when Arizona's communities need them most."
The freshman Arizona Congressman is not the first to claim the Biden-Harris Administration weaponized government against political opponents. At the beginning of March, Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced a bill shuttering the Department of Education's (DOE) Office of Enforcement.
Rep. Biggs claimed the Biden-Harris Administration disproportionately targeted faith-based universities with fines and enforcement actions, such as fining Liberty University $14 million for supposedly failing to comply with federal campus crime-reporting standards but only fining the University of Michigan $4.5 million for failing to report the crimes of former gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.
