Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has reintroduced six border security bills as the 119th Congress begins. He shared them in a thread on X (formerly Twitter).
In his first post, Rep. Biggs said, "Border security must be our number one priority in the new Congress and President Trump's Administration. I've reintroduced several of my key border security bills to make sure we follow through on our promises to the American people."

The first bill Rep. Biggs is reintroducing is the Stopping Border Surges Act, which he first introduced in 2022. The America First Policy Institute summarized the bill's key provisions, which allow for the detention of family units apprehended at the border, allow for the prompt return of unaccompanied alien children (UAC), and several measures to tighten asylum application laws to prevent frivolous asylum claims, among other measures.

Second, the Arizona Congressman will reintroduce legislation to fund the completion of President-elect Donald Trump's border wall, with funds drawn from rightsizing immigration fees, taxation of foreign remittance transfers, and offsetting funds to countries whose citizens illegally enter the United States.
Biggs's third bill is the Ensuring United Families at the Border Act, introduced in April 2023, which prevents families from being separated upon detainment when caught at the border.

Fourth is the Ending Catch and Release Act, preventing the release of illegal aliens into the United States while their immigration claims are pending.
The fifth piece of legislation is named Grant's Law, after Grant Ronnebeck, the 2015 murder victim of an illegal alien who was released despite having final removal orders. Grant's Law would prevent such releases of aliens arrested for deportable crimes.

Finally, Biggs's sixth bill, the Border Control Assessment Act, was introduced in December. The Act removes any impediments to members of Congress personally assessing the border, such as entering Indian reservations, national parks, federal parks, and monuments.
Biggs concluded the thread by saying, "President Trump's incoming Administration will work tirelessly to reverse the Biden-Harris regime's disastrous open-border policies. Congress must be ready to hit the ground running Jan. 20th to fulfill the mandate delivered by Americans."
