There's a clear divide between Republicans and Democrats' response to Vice President Kamala Harris' (D) visit to the southern border last week. The vice president visited Arizona to give a speech on border security. She also released a new advertisement, highlighting a "tough-on-the-border" policy. In response to Vice President Harris' border visit, Senate hopeful Kari Lake (R) called it "despicable."

During an interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo, Lake commented on Vice President Harris' visit to the border of the week, calling it a trip to appease the media.

Calling the visit "despicable," Lake expressed that Vice President Harris "spent 20 minutes on the border. She's been the 'Border Czar' for almost 4 years now, and she came down, I think, to make her friends in the mainstream media happy, so that they could finally say she visited the border."

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

She shared that she was surprised Vice President Harris didn't call President Joe Biden (D) to tell him “we did it, Joe. We destroyed America.” The senatorial hopeful accuses the Biden-Harris Administration of allowing "30,000 convicted rapists and murderers" of being let loose in the country, adding that "terrorists" are also running rampant. This, she argues, has led to Americans living in "dangerous times."

Lake further warned that Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego (D), her Democratic opponent, is "lockstep with her [Vice President Harris]" and that he is also to blame for the "Border Crisis."

Over the weekend, Lake held a press conference outside of her Phoenix office, further accusing Vice President Harris and Rep. Gallego for the country's issues with the souther border. While speaking with reporters, Lake cited that had once argued that "there is no national emergency coming from the border."

On social media, Lake's campaign X account noted that Rep. Gallegos' Press Secretary accused Lake of lying about the quote. However, Lake's campaign X account shared a post from Rep. Gallego's account wherein he argues that there is no "national emergency."

Last year, Rep. Gallego called on the Biden Administration to issue an emergency declaration for the Southwest Border, calling for resources for Arizona's border communities and nonprofits, so they can process the increased number of arrivals at the border.
