The recent election in Venezuela is suspected by many to be fraudulent after dictator Nicolas Maduro declared himself the winner. Many lawmakers and candidates have condemned the regime, including Abraham Hamadeh (R), who urged Americans to vote during a recent appearance on The Afternoon Addiction with Garret Lewis, saying, "We may not have a country if we do not win it this time."

Many Republicans have blamed the Biden Administration for easing sanctions on Venezuela on the promise of free and fair elections, saying Maduro duped them. Hamadeh agreed before sharing a personal story about the country and the dangers of socialism.
"I actually have a Venezuela connection on my mom's side. A lot of them lived in Venezuela. They had to flee to Aruba after [former dictator Hugo] Chavez nationalized all of their companies, and this is what is happening. It is socialism. You know, Venezuela used to be a very rich country, very free and prosperous, but once socialism takes a foot and once communism takes hold, it is very hard to get out of because they are going to weaponize every institution. They are going to steal elections, and that is what you are seeing," said Hamadeh.
As a result, the former Army Captain hoped recent events in Venezuela would cause Americans to wake up, even if they are called "election deniers."
"Venezuela's government right now is illegitimate, and I hope that other countries stand firm with the opposition right now. But there are riots in the streets of Venezuela. I think that people are so fed up with living in destitution and living in poverty. You know, communism, socialism, they destroy the soul, [it] destroys the essence of the community and society, and that is what we are seeing in Venezuela. Look at San Francisco and Chicago. It is so scary. We have to go out and vote in this election because we may not have a country if we do not win it this time," Hamadeh concluded.
