The ongoing border crisis is a significant tenet of Kari Lake's (R) Senate campaign. As part of her bid for Senator Kyrsten Sinema's (I-AZ) seat, she recently launched a coalition named Families Fighting Fentanyl, made up of parents who have lost their children and loved ones to the notoriously deadly fentanyl that has been smuggled over the border, enabled by the lax policies of the Biden Administration.
Last week, Lake addressed these parents and families in Nogales, posting the speech on X (formerly Twitter).
"I was honored to be joined in Nogales by Angel moms & dads who have lost a child to fentanyl poisoning. When I get to Washington, D.C., We're going to go HARD after the monsters who have been creating & importing this poison into America. We're going to save lives starting in January of 2025," said Lake.

In the clip, Lake brought up several people who lost their sons and daughters to fentanyl, saying, "We do not want any more parents going through this pain; we do not want that phone call that comes in and tells you that you have lost your son or your daughter."
The Arizona Senate candidate then turned to reporters in the room, chastising them as wanting to "cover stupid stuff here and there" and telling them to speak to these bereaved families.
"I ask that you seek out these mothers and fathers and talk about this issue and cover this issue because it is a real issue that is impacting so many families," Lake continued.
In the presser announcing the Families Fighting Fentanyl Coalition, Clark and Karen Griffin, who lost their son Tyler to fentanyl, were selected as co-chairs for the group, where they said, "Never did we imagine that our beautiful and talented son would become a statistic among the hundreds of thousands of American citizens killed by synthetic fentanyl poisoning. When we met Kari Lake, at the height of our grief, she looked us in the eye and promised us that Tyler's death would not be forgotten."
Additionally, Mr. and Mrs. Griffin attacked Lake's opponent, Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), blasting him as someone who "not only denies the border crisis, but he has rubber-stamped Biden policies that have made the problem so much worse."
