Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) weighed in on Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes' decision to decline to prosecute in the pay-to-play allegations between Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) and Sunshine Residential Homes.
During a recent appearance on James T. Harris's Conservative Circus, the Arizona lawmaker said it was proof Arizona has a "captured government."
What Hamadeh Said
Rep. Hamadeh posted a clip from the interview on X, in which he said he was not surprised by AG Mayes' decision, suggesting that "the reason why Kris Mayes is the illegitimate attorney general is because Katie Hobbs, the Secretary of State, withheld evidence as well. So no, they are in cahoots together. The Democrats stick together no matter what."
He called the investigation "a sham" and designed to "exonerate" Gov. Hobbs 60 days ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, and thus "Arizona has a captured government right now."
Nevertheless, Rep. Hamadeh emphasized that "the most important thing we have to do this November is get rid of both Kris Mayes and Katie Hobbs."
"I mean, they are becoming so lawless, and the media does not hold them accountable," the Arizona congressman commented. "I mean, my God, I have been calling out the Arizona media daily because of their headlines," he added, accusing the press of "protecting Katie Hobbs at every turn."
"They know she's incompetent, they know she is a fool, and the media is not going to hold the attorney general or the governor accountable," Hamadeh concluded. "The attorney general is not going to hold the governor accountable. This is what you call a captured government. So it is up to We the People to show them accountability by voting them out of office."
Other Republicans' Reactions
Among the Arizona Republicans who spoke out against Mayes' ruling were State Senate President Warren Petersen (R-14), who said, "What good is an Attorney General who does not hold interviews and prosecute?"
Similarly, State Senator Jake Hoffman (R-15) wrote on social media, "The Kris Mayes - Katie Hobbs corruption and coverup scandal is significant. Katie Hobbs illegally funneled TENS, possibly HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to a company who donated BIG to her & fellow Democrats Kris Mayes refused to conduct a real investigation and is now covering up the corruption. Mayes and Hobbs are outright criminals."
