Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) applauded the conviction of several members of the left-wing terrorist organization Antifa for their participation in an attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Texas last year on social media.

The Attack and Conviction

On July 4th of last year, eight armed Antifa militants attacked the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, rioting, using fireworks, and opening fire on a responding officer.

The ringleader, Benjamin Hanil Song, was sentenced to 100 years in prison, while the sentences of the other seven members ranged from 30 to 70 years in prison, with most being sentenced to 50, making a combined 450 years in prison. Seven additional defendants pleaded guilty to providing material support to the attackers and will be sentenced on July 1st.

Notably, this is the first time Antifa members have been convicted at the federal level since President Donald Trump declared them a domestic terrorist organization in September 2025.

"Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law," President Trump noted in an executive order. "It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals."

Hamadeh's Response

"Antifa is a domestic terrorist organization," Rep. Hamadeh declared on social media, adding, "They are the radical left's violent paramilitary shock troops, hell-bent on tearing this country down."

"With these DOJ prosecutions & stiff sentences, Antifa is getting the message loud & clear: their days of anarchy & chaos are OVER," Rep. Hamadeh concluded.

Luna's Bill

Two days after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) reintroduced legislation that would designate Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, telling podcaster Benny Johnson that "there needs to be massive punitive action against these people. There needs to be capital punishment, zero tolerance for people that are committing acts of murder and violence against people based on their civil liberties, the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. But more importantly, people need to get involved."
