Schweikert Urges Defense Production Act for CA Oil Refineries
Representative David Schweikert (R-AZ) is urging the enforcement of the Defense Production Act to prevent California's oil refineries from shutting down in a social media post.
For additional context, the Defense Production Act of 1950 authorizes the President to exercise emergency powers over domestic industries related to defense and emergencies, compelling businesses, such as energy companies, to prioritize production for national defense and to prevent hoarding.

Governor Katie Hobbs: Today, I promised to veto all bills that come to my desk and again invited legislative Republicans to show their budget plans to the people of this state. I’m ready to talk, but I can’t negotiate with politicians who refuse to show the public their plans. The legislative majority needs to put forward their budget proposal and then join me in good faith negotiations so we can pass a bipartisan, balanced budget like we’ve done the past three years.
AZ Attorney General Kris Mayes: Even with limited resources from our state legislature, last year @arizonaago received the Inspector General’s Award for Fighting Fraud, Waste, and Abuse from Trump's @HHSGov. We were the only Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to receive this award!
State Representative Alma Hernandez: I’m truly honored to share that I’ve been nominated for the 2026 Best of the Capitol Awards by the Arizona Capitol Times for the Best Elected Democratic Official award! This recognition means so much because it reflects the support and trust of colleagues, advocates, and our community. Every day, I remain committed to fighting for policies that uplift Arizona families and strengthen our future especially in LD20! Voting is now open, and I would be grateful for your support. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with me this work is only possible because of you may the best Dem win and congratulations to all the honorees!
State Representative Rachel Keshel: Can you imagine the outrage and media coverage if three white Republicans assaulted a Hispanic female journalist who was a Democrat? They would roll out the guillotine. Screw these people.
State Representative Consuelo Hernandez: The good boys club of politics needs to end. The fact that people knew of Congressman Swalwell's behavior and turned a blind eye is also deeply concerning. “Believe women” are empty words when elected officials endorse people like Swalwell and Trump.
State Representative Joseph Chaplik: Endorsement Alert This is a great group who has been very supportive over the years and I’m thrilled to have their committee’s unanimous vote to endorse my campaign for Congress in CD1. A big thank you to the RLC for recognizing who is the clear choice for this district.
State Representative Nick Kupper: Glad to see that these dems are actually being consistent and calling on Swalwell to not only drop out do the gov race but also to resign.
