Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has denounced the 58 Democrats who voted against the House's resolution condemning the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in a recent appearance on Fox News's Faulkner Focus, saying it shows "their lack of goodwill."
Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that "the rhetoric that Charlie Kirk continuously put out there was rhetoric that specifically targeted people of color. And, so, it is unfortunate that even our colleagues cannot see how harmful his rhetoric was."
Similarly, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) commented that "[Kirk's] rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans — far from the 'working tirelessly to promote unity' as asserted by the majority in this resolution."
In response, Rep. Biggs described to host Harris Faulkner that he expected a unanimous vote, yet "their mischaracterization and their attacks on Charlie Kirk actually show their ignorance, and it shows their lack of goodwill, and it shows their lack of willingness to bridge a gap there to try to resolve issues, problems, and difficulties we have in the nation."
"It was really disgusting to me that so many people voted 'no' in the first place," he continued, further calling those who only voted present "shameful."
"It was only a minority of Democrats that voted to condemn this killer and to recognize Charlie Kirk for who he was, and what a shameful thing," the Arizona Congressman added.
Faulkner further noted that Democrats have tried to frame Kirk as a racist, prompting Biggs to reply that "this notion that everything is going to be race-based on every decision you make is just what is ignorant."
"That is what is sad, we need to deal with it and move on," he concluded. "But what Charlie did is, he loved them [his opposition] anyway. That is hard for me to do. As Trump said yesterday, that is really hard to do."
