Lake Torches Gallego for Voting Against SAVE Act

On Wednesday, the House passed the SAVE Act, reaffirming that voters must provide proof of citizenship to vote in elections. 198 Democrats voted against it. Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) was one of the 198 who received fierce criticism in a mailer released by the campaign of Kari Lake (R), who is running against him for Senate this November.

"On Wednesday, Ruben Gallego voted AGAINST the SAVE Act, which would prevent illegal immigrants and non-U.S. citizens from voting in our elections and establish penalties for intentionally registering non-citizens to vote. Notably, Arizona currently tells voters that if their citizenship cannot be confirmed, they will receive a federal-only ballot, allowing them to vote in Presidential, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House Elections," the mailer said.

Lake herself stated, "Ruben Gallego helped Joe Biden open our border and allowed millions of illegal aliens into America. Then, today, to add insult to injury, Ruben spat in the face of every law-abiding American when he voted to allow illegal immigrants to vote in our elections. Our elections are sacred. We will NOT allow Biden and Gallego to water down our vote and disenfranchise American citizens.  Ruben Gallego is the most radical member of Congress, and this November, Arizona will reject him and his owner, Joe Biden."

The Lake mailer repeated previous instances of Rep. Gallego supporting President Biden's "open-border" agenda, including tweets downplaying and denying the crisis, supporting legislation in favor of illegal immigrants and against border security.

Surprisingly, the mailer does not mention the Arizona Congressman's support for the June executive order issued by the Biden Administration capping illegal entry into the United States that many Republicans have dismissed as window-dressing.

However, Gallego's support was the subject of its own email issued by the Lake campaign: "This latest move is just another in a series of purely political moves made by radicals like Biden and Gallego in their attempt to salvage their chances this November. But Arizonans won't so easily forget the three years that Biden and Gallego spent refusing to secure our border as millions of illegal aliens came into our country unvetted, drugs poured into our communities, and crime skyrocketed. Arizonans will remember that Biden and Gallego are the ones who created this humanitarian and national security crisis in the first place."
