'Never Underestimate Trump': Abe Hamadeh Weighs in on Trump's Peace Deal with Iran

Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) weighed in on the announcement of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran in a recent discussion with radio host James T. Harris, saying that one should "never underestimate President Donald Trump."

What Hamadeh is Saying

"He always has America's interests first," Rep. Hamadeh said, adding, "President Trump wants an end to the conflict, and he has been very apparent, and he has been trying to calm multiple parties that are involved in it."

Rep. Hamadeh further suggests that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, Iran's nuclear program will be dismantled, and that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon will be dealt with, although the full terms of the peace agreement have not been disclosed.

"I think there are a lot of positives with the deal," the Arizona congressman continued, before clarifying that he does not trust Iran "not for one second, and I know they are going to be trying to plot their way to get revenge."

On the Impact of the War

Nevertheless, Hamadeh suggested that now was the time for the Iranian people, "to go topple this very, very weakened regime, because the regime has been incredibly weakened, and they cannot miss out on this opportunity."

Moreover, he stated that the White House has been sympathetic to Americans frustrated with high gas prices.

"They understand that the world's economy, especially that part of the region, has taken a big hit. [Trump] is trying to calm things down, and of course he does not trust the Iranians, but you make peace with your enemies, and you know it is going to be up to them [Iran] to see whether they abide by it," he commented.

Earlier in June, the House of Representatives passed a resolution calling for the end of the conflict, and Arizona Democrats were among the most vocal members.
