Kari Lake Nominated as U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica

Voice of America Global Media Advisor Kari Lake has announced that she is being nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica.

In a recent social media post, Lake wrote, "Jamaica is a country I know very well, full of incredible people, and if confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to strengthening the partnership between our nations, advancing America's interests abroad, and building on the deep friendship shared by the American and Jamaican people."

"Honored to continue serving in this HISTORIC Administration!" Lake added.

Lake's tenure as Global Media Advisor was marked by her attempts to downsize or shutter Voice of America (VOA), including an effort to fire non-citizen journalists.

"Their time here is up," Lake said during a TV interview on Real America’s Voice with Eric Bolling in August. "If I have to go to the airport with them, and accompany them to the airport and get them on the flight, I will do that."

According to Lake, some foreign workers might pose a threat to security risks: "Many of them are from nations that are hostile to America," she explained. "You have to worry that they will become a national security risk." However, Lake's actions during her time at VOA were declared unlawful in March because Lake had not been confirmed by the Senate to the position.

Nevertheless, Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) congratulated Lake in a reply to her post, writing, "Congratulations to Congressman Hamadeh's good friend @KariLake on her nomination as the next U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica!"

"From Arizona to the Swamp, your unbridled tenacity and fighting spirit continue to inspire us all," Rep. Hamadeh continued. "This Administration made a fantastic choice, selecting a proven warrior to represent America overseas. We know you’ll make us proud, Kari!"

The nomination comes as the Trump Administration has continued its efforts to strangle the regime of Communist Cuba through a blockade to prevent oil from reaching the island.
