Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ) reevaluated the Senate's bipartisan border deal, which was proposed last year, in a recent discussion with Arizona Today's Dr. Lyle Rapacki, saying, "There does not even need to be a bill; we just need a commander-in-chief who actually uses his authorities."
Rep. Crane posted the discussion to X (formerly Twitter), adding, "Last year, the Democrats promoted the 'Senate Border Bill,' which Didn't end catch-and-release -Failed to mandate wall construction -Allocated BILLIONS to corrupt NGOs -Authorized the mass release of illegals. We didn't need new legislation. We just needed a new President."

Within the clip, Rep. Crane elaborated how "There does not even need to be a bill; we just need a commander-in-chief who actually uses his authorities and uses existing laws to hold these individuals coming in illegally to our existing laws, and we will have this border secured almost instantaneously."
"And that is what you saw with President Trump," the Arizona Congressman continued. "One thing people love about him is that he keeps his promises, and in a matter of weeks, President Trump had the border largely secured."
Crane further described how border crossings have plummeted dramatically in recent weeks, cartel bosses have been extradited to the United States to stand trial, and forced Mexico via tariffs to deploy troops at the border as Trump sent the National Guard and other Armed Forces to the American side.
"And so it just once again shows the American people that not only is President Trump a man who keeps his word but that Joe Biden and a lot of politicians up here were completely gaslighting the American people, saying that they did not have any authorities, and abilities to do it. And once again, they were proven wrong," Crane added.
Dr. Rapacki asked if Congress has been more aware of the toll the border crisis had wrought on the country since Trump took office, to which the Arizona Congressman replied, "I do not think that there was any question even 60 days ago, even a year ago, of how dangerous the situation is or was."
After all, Crane concluded, "Even your most moderate Republican has individuals in their district that they represent getting killed by individuals who were not supposed to be here. Many of their constituents [were] dying from fentanyl, so it is something that we have known for a very long time. And like I said, going back to even when Joe Biden was running, many of us knew that this was going to turn into a full-blown catastrophe five years ago."
