Biggs Shreds Biden Spin on Bipartisan Border Deal in Op-Ed

During the State of the Union address, President Biden implored Republicans to reconsider the heavily panned bipartisan border deal introduced by Senators Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), James Lankford (R-OK), and Chris Murphy (D-CT). Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) rebuked the President's remarks in a recent op-ed for the Daily Caller, suggesting Biden "read the bill" and assert the executive authority he has to secure the border.

"As I watched from my office I couldn’t help but chuckle when he got into a bit of colloquy with Republicans on the floor about the misrepresented Senate “Border Bill.” He suggested that Republicans really ought to read the bill. I would suggest that President Biden read the bill. And, if he has read the bill, he doesn’t understand the infirmities within that bill that will codify continued rampant illegal entries, while providing the ultimate incentive for illegal border crossers — amnesty," Rep. Biggs wrote, comparing the bipartisan border deal to "a gaping mouth with no teeth next to a perfectly cooked steak."

From here, Rep. Biggs continued to poke holes in the border deal's text. For instance, he pointed out that the 5,000 crossings per day cap did not apply to the first 1,400 asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors.

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

Not only have 500,00 unaccompanied minors already been let in since 2021, but the Department of Homeland Security lost track of 85,000. Moreover, many self-reported minors were adults, as restrictions on DNA collecting and testing mean what migrants say must be taken at face value.

Unnervingly, a Florida grand jury led by the state's Attorney General Ashley Moody found that many unaccompanied minors were victims of human trafficking in April, corroborated by eyewitness testimony from Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) at the end of January.

Biggs further noted that denying entry to illegals becomes mandatory when there have been 35,000 crossings in a week, and optional until then.

"Do you think the impeached, open-borders Alejandro Mayorkas will invoke the authority to deny entry?" Biggs asked in his article.

"President Biden should stop with the word salad lectures and admonitions for others to read bills he has neither read nor understood. He should enforce the laws we have in place to secure the border. No more rambling speeches, just focused action," Biggs concluded.
