Arizona GOP chair Jeff DeWit resigned after a recorded conversation between him and Senate candidate Kari Lake was leaked, showing him attempting to bribe her into not running. Lake discussed the fallout in a recent appearance on the local radio show/podcast Afternoon Addiction with Garret Lewis, dismissing DeWit's resignation letter as "delusional" and urging the Arizona Republican Party to "elect a really honorable person because the next ten months are absolutely critical for our state and our country."

Fox 10 Phoenix reported on DeWit's resignation letter, where he claimed the leaked conversation was "selectively edited" and that Lake coerced him into resigning. Host Garret Lewis scoffed at the letter, which Lake agreed.

"I think this is a delusional person talking, sadly," said Lake, adding that there was no way the audio could be interpreted as anything else, condemning DeWit's refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing.

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

"And there was no apology to the Arizona Republicans, many of whom supported him in the past, and this is exactly why it is good that he is gone and we can get somebody in there. And I hope the Arizona Republicans will elect a really honorable person because the next ten months are absolutely critical for our state and our country," Lake continued.

The Senatorial candidate made similar remarks to NBC Tuesday evening when the audio was made public, highlighting "we need to make sure we get the corrupt people out," but did not name any specific individual to serve as DeWit's replacement.

Lewis asked for additional context to some of the recorded conversation, specifically when DeWit referred to Lake as his "employee." Lake clarified she worked at Superfeed Technologies, although DeWit was not her superior.

"So I joined that company. I am not an employee of Jeff. I do not even know if he is still working there," said Lake.

Additionally, Lewis blasted the media framing of the bribery attempt as "a controversy," to which Lake mocked the wording as DeWit "urging" her not to run for Senate rather than bribing.

"This is just how sick the media is, and I am so glad that the people are waking up to how corrupt the fake news is," Lake concluded.
