Eli Crane Applauds Unanimous Senate Energy Committee Passage of North Rim Restoration Act

Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ) applauded the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee's unanimous passage of his North Rim Restoration Act today.

A History of the Bill

Rep. Crane introduced his North Rim Restoration Act in October 2025 after the Dragon Bravo Fire devastated a large swathe of the Grand Canyon's North Rim, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge.

The bill expedites recovery by granting the National Park Service emergency contracting authority for forest management, maintenance, rebuilding, and infrastructure improvements, thereby bypassing federal red tape and speeding up recovery work.

It passed out of the House Natural Resources Committee in January and passed the full House in March.

Now, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has passed it unanimously, and it will soon head to the Senate floor for a vote, bringing it that much closer to the President's desk to be signed into law.

What Crane is Saying

"On behalf of the small businesses, gateway communities, park staff, and residents relying on a full recovery from the Dragon Bravo Fire, I greatly appreciate Chairman Mike Lee's leadership in advancing this critical legislation," said Rep. Crane in his press release, adding, "We owe it to the Arizonans living with this destruction to remove every obstacle and pave the way toward rapid relief."

The Arizona congressman continued, "As this Congress nears its end, it's essential we get this bill to the President's desk before we're forced to start over. I urge my Senate colleagues to act without delay so we can restore this natural wonder and revive the communities that depend on it."

Other Recent Advances

Last week, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced Crane's Subterranean Border Defense Act, which would require Customs and Border Protection to report annually to Congress on anti-tunnel actions so strategies can be updated regularly.

"This bill has already passed the House in an overwhelming bipartisan vote, and Senator Scott's introduction of the bill in the upper chamber brings it one step closer to becoming law," said Crane.
