Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Abraham Accords this week, sharing that "five years on, and on the verge of a historic expansion, we celebrate this singular diplomatic achievement."
The Abraham Accords are a series of agreements signed by at least four countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, which normalized relations between these countries and the State of Israel — a remarkable achievement, as most of the Arab world is hostile to the Jewish State.
"Today, we celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Abraham Accords," Rep. Hamadeh shared on social media, adding that "President Trump and his team proved that peace in the Middle East could be achieved without firing a single bullet."
Rep. Hamadeh further accused the Biden Administration of having "worked to undermine this historic agreement," yet "the bonds established in the region proved too strong to break."
In April, Hamadeh introduced the bipartisan Promoting Education on the Abraham Accords for Comprehensive Engagement (PEACE) Act, which requires institutionalizing training on the Abraham Accords and other normalization agreements for future American diplomats to the Middle East.
The following month, President Donald Trump met with interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Saudi-US investment forum. President Trump promised to lift the numerous sanctions the United States has placed on Syria in exchange for signing the Abraham Accords, expelling all foreign terrorists, including those affiliated with Hamas and Hezbollah, and continue overseeing imprisoned members of the Islamic State (ISIS) and prevent the group's resurgence.
Hamadeh called the move "a historic step toward advancing peace through strength in the Middle East."
"By working with key partners like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, removing sanctions lays crucial groundwork for a broader regional realignment—one that builds on the promise of the Abraham Accords and puts American leadership back at the center of global diplomacy," the Arizona Congressman concluded.
