Waltz Addresses 'Signal Gate'

National Security Advisor and former Congressman Mike Waltz (R-FL) spoke to Laura Ingraham on Fox News after he appeared to inadvertently add editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, to a text chain on the Signal messaging app. Key members of the Trump administration included Vice President JD Vance (R), Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Content within the group chat contained information regarding the strikes on the Houthis in Yemen, which has been deemed sensitive but not classified. However, Goldberg stated that he omitted some content for national security concerns.

While on the program, Adviser Waltz took "full responsibility" for adding Goldberg but claims he doesn't know how it happened.

He began by saying the Trump administration will get to the bottom of what happened.

"We're going to have to get to the bottom of it. I just talked to Elon [Musk] on the way here," said Advisor Waltz. "We've got the best technical minds looking at how this happened But I can tell you, for 100%, I don't know this guy. I know him by his horrible reputation, and he really is the bottom scum of journalists. I know him in the sense that he hates the President. But I don't text him, he wasn't on my phone, and we're going to figure out how this happened."

Furthermore, Ingraham asked Waltz if he would be opposed to the release of the other content that was omitted by Goldberg despite the Trump administration claiming there was no classified information within the text chain.

Waltz was adamant that he would be against the release of the other messages, citing the notion that the conversation was intended to be private.

"I would prefer, certainly, as the President was saying today, if we could all sit in a steel-lined lead room and have all of these conversations, I certainly want our deliberations to stay confidential ... So, no, of course, I don't want it all out there, because these were conversations back and forth that you should be able to have confidentially," said Waltz. "But what you also saw was a healthy policy debate and how we are going to achieve for this for the President."

After saying this, Waltz confirmed with Ingraham that there was no classified information in the text chain.
