One of President Elect Trump's biggest campaign promises was to "build the wall" between the United States and Mexico in order to stop the influx of illegal immigrants, and to deport those in the country illegally. Now, one of the biggest proponents of a hard line on immigration is saying Donald Trump is "pragmatic" on the issue.
WBUR 90.9 is reporting from an interview conducted with outgoing Congressman Matt Salmon:
The Republican lawmaker says he also believes Trump will be pragmatic on immigration, and will find "solutions that work" instead of building a wall. He added that Republicans should hold Trump's feet to the fire if he seeks to expand presidential power through executive orders.
Salmon also spoke to Trump's cabinet assignments saying he "like all of the cabinet picks so far", and to the President Elect's dealing with China as it related to Taiwan saying Trump "sent a strong message to China" by speaking with Taiwan.
