Artan hit a crowd of people with a car and proceeded to attack several people with a butcher's knife soon after. It left 11 people injured and the suspect dead.
AMAQ, the news agency of the Islamic state, claimed that the attacker at the University was "a soldier of the Islamic State" as reported by the Hill.
Authorities reportedly uncovered the suspect's Facebook page where he made a "declaration" by saying "If you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace."
