Abe Hamadeh Calls on Democrats to Stop Anti-ICE Rhetoric After Attempted New York Firebombing

Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) is calling upon Democrats to stop demonizing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on social media after an attempted firebombing of a Federal building in New York City.

The Attack

Monday morning, a man approached 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan, which is being used as a processing center, and used fireworks in an attempt to set the building on fire. He was tackled by a Federal Protective Service officer.

In addition to the fireworks, the suspect was found carrying a knife, a hammer, and what has been suspected to be a pellet gun, while a cart he wheeled with him contained airsoft guns and a sign that read "ICE Off Our Streets."

Hamadeh's Response

"The suspected terrorist attack in New York City shows every sign of being another targeted strike by a militant leftist against ICE, our immigration laws, and this administration’s border policy," Rep. Hamadeh posted on X. "Fueled by a propagandist press, the next generation of political assassins and terrorists is being brainwashed into dangerous actions that put innocent Americans at risk."

Rep. Hamadeh declared that "this must stop. If any sane voices remain in the Democrat Party, they need to acknowledge the chaos they are fomenting and help end it."

Not the First Time

In June, the Arizona congressman commented on the sentencing of a combined 450 years for a group of Antifa terrorists that attacked the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas. The group rioted, used fireworks, and opened fire on a responding officer.

Hamadeh is not the first Arizona Republican to denounce anti-ICE rhetoric, as Representative Andy Biggs did so in January.

"There has not been one Democrat that I have heard since ICE has been enforcing the law, one Democrat at any level of government; local, county, state, federal, that has said to people: 'We do not like what ICE is doing, but you have to de-escalate the attacks on ICE.' What is ICE doing?" Rep. Biggs said in a House of Representatives hearing.
