Representative Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) is applauding the House of Representatives' passage of the Secure America Act along strict party lines and by an extremely narrow majority.
The Secure America Act is a budget reconciliation package that provides an additional $70 billion to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), particularly to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol.
The House voted 214 to 212 on Tuesday to approve, with no Democrats in favor, finally ending the months-long standoff on funding the agencies, which had led to a partial government shutdown earlier this year.
Rep. Hamadeh took to social media to celebrate, writing, "The passage of the Secure America Act is a decisive victory for law & order, border security, & the American people."
"For years, Democrats deliberately kept our borders wide open, placing illegal aliens ahead of American citizens’ safety," Rep. Hamadeh continued. "This legislation shatters their hostage tactics & delivers a major win for the America First agenda: stronger borders, restored accountability, & hardworking Americans first, where they belong."
The Arizona congressman has been a ferocious critic of the Democratic Party during the partial government shutdown, with his most prominent barbs written in March.
"Every moment Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego, and Schumer Democrats let DHS limp along without full funding, they're playing Russian roulette with American lives," Hamadeh posted at the beginning of March. "Time to end this tantrum, stop the obstruction, and fully fund DHS to keep America safe.
On St. Patrick's Day, Hamadeh wrote that three then-recent Islamist terror attacks could have been prevented, writing, "Gallego, Kelly, & the rest of Schumer's Democrats must stop playing politics with our national security NOW."
The following week, the Arizona congressman posted, "Democrats are willing to ruin your vacation, endanger your family, and destroy TSA agents' livelihoods, all to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. They no longer answer to hardworking Americans. Only to their radical base. Every day, this twisted agenda puts America at greater risk."
