Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) pledged state assistance Thursday in the ongoing investigation of an 84-year-old Tucson woman authorities believe was abducted from her residence.

"My heart is with the Guthrie family," Gov. Hobbs posted on X. "The Arizona Department of Public Safety is coordinating with local law enforcement in Tucson, offering Rapid DNA analysis and prepared to deploy additional support as needed."

The governor's message addressed the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, whose daughter, Savannah, is an NBC News reporter. Family members reported her missing Sunday after realizing she hadn't been seen since late Saturday night.

Hobbs's offer of state-level help comes as the case enters a critical phase. Laboratory analysis identified blood discovered outside the woman's residence as belonging to her, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

Despite the concerning evidence, investigators maintain hope that she remains unharmed.

Ransom Escalation

AP News reported the situation escalated when multiple news organizations received ransom demands. FBI Phoenix leader Heith Janke disclosed that these messages set two time limits, one deadline on Thursday night, another on Monday, and referenced specific items at the victim's property.

Law enforcement officials acknowledge they haven't yet pinpointed anyone as a potential suspect in the abduction.

On Wednesday, Savannah Guthrie joined her siblings in publicly requesting evidence, emphasizing, “Momma, if you’re listening, we need you to come home.”

“We are ready to talk,” they continued, pleading to the kidnappers. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated, we need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive.”

As of now, the appeals have gone unanswered.

National Support

As this is a national issue, President Donald Trump has posted on Truth Social, “I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely.”

“The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY,” President Trump concluded.

Tucson and state officials continue working to piece together what happened and locate Nancy Guthrie.
