Biggs and Stanton Split Over Bad Bunny's 'Together, We Are America' Super Bowl Performance

What started as a lighthearted joke between seatmates on a flight to Washington revealed a deeper cultural divide within Arizona's congressional delegation during Sunday's Super Bowl.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) posted on X while seated next to Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ): "Headed back to DC, just told my seatmate we're going to try and livestream The All-American Halftime Show. Let's hope nobody gets kicked off this flight."

Stanton responded by retweeting Biggs' post with a photo appearing to show a photoshopped image of Bad Bunny on Biggs' phone, adding: "Now wait a minute…?"

However, the playful exchange masked a significant divide. This year's Super Bowl featured two competing halftime performances that drew support from different members of Arizona's delegation.

Along with Biggs, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) backed the Turning Point USA "All-American Halftime Show," which featured country artists Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, Gabby Barrett, and Kid Rock. The counter-event peaked at over 5 million concurrent viewers on YouTube.

“Americans have had enough of woke garbage pushed by the Left. We're celebrating what makes America great … thank you, Turning Point USA," Biggs posted on X.

Crane added his support after watching: "Thank you, @TPUSA. This is how it's done @NFL."

NFL Superbowl

Meanwhile, Reps. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) praised the official NFL halftime show starring Bad Bunny, with special guests Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Bad Bunny's performance opened in a recreated Puerto Rican sugar cane field, featuring traditional cultural symbols. He performed entirely in Spanish with Lady Gaga singing “Die With A Smile”.

He concluded by saying "God bless America" and naming countries throughout North, South, and Latin America while dancers carried their flags across the stage, then raising a football that said “Together, We Are America”.

Gallego expressed emotional support for the show: "That was beautiful, it is the most Latino thing I have ever seen on TV. There are many of us that were tearing up with Pride. Orgullo Latino!"

Grijalva emphasized themes of representation: "Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime reminded us that representation matters & diversity IS America's superpower. ¡Gracias, Bad Bunny!"

Record Breaking Streaming

Bad Bunny's performance drew massive engagement. His Instagram teaser received 155 million views and 8.7 million likes before the game, and his daily streams jumped from 10.2 million to 19.3 million within 48 hours of the announcement.

This year's Super Bowl drew 142.3 million viewers, breaking last year's record of 133.5 million set during Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance. Bad Bunny currently ranks as Spotify's most-streamed artist of 2025, with 19.8 billion total streams. The previous Saturday, his album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" won Album of the Year at a major awards ceremony.

Bad Bunny's performance sparked a national conversation about cultural representation and American identity, with the dueling halftime shows becoming a political flashpoint that extended well beyond the football field.
