The Arizona Freedom Caucus announced its endorsement of the Arizona Secure Elections Act, a major election reform bill, supporting fellow member Representative Alexander Kolodin's proposed legislation.
The conservative legislative group said election integrity remains a top concern for Arizona voters.
Chairman Senator Jake Hoffman praised Kolodin's leadership, saying the caucus will work to get the measure on the 2026 ballot. Representative Kolodin said the bill would improve security in Arizona elections and emphasized its focus on accountability and transparency.
The caucus wants to address concerns about voting delays, foreign donations, and early voting procedures.
The Arizona Secure Elections Act includes several requirements. Voters would need a government-issued photo ID to cast ballots. Early voting would end by 7 p.m. on the Friday before Election Day, with no votes accepted after polls close on Election Day.
Foreign contributions to candidates or ballot measures would be banned. Mail-in voters would confirm their address each election year, and everyone would have the right to vote at physical polling locations. Free photo IDs would be provided for those who can't afford them.
Arizona already uses paper ballots, keeps voting equipment offline, tests machines before and after elections, and verifies mail-in ballot signatures. Each of the state's 15 counties runs its own elections independently.
The bill will be introduced to the state legislature this week. If it passes, Arizona voters would decide whether to approve it in the 2026 general election.
“The Arizona Freedom Caucus, with members like Representative Alexander Kolodin, continue to provide critically needed leadership in the mission to secure Arizona’s elections today and in the future,” Hoffman concluded.
