Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) recently wrote a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel urging the opening of an inquiry into ActBlue, the Democratic Party's primary fundraising apparatus, for supposed misconduct.
In his letter, Rep. Biggs described how the Biden-Harris Administration uncovered hundreds of suspicious transactions involving ActBlue reported by various banks. Allegations of donations from Russia, China, Iran, and Venezuela through straw donors have also surfaced, prompting a House Oversight investigation.
However, Biden's White House officials were slow to hand over documents.
"It must be emphasized that these allegations, were they to prove true, would indicate a serious threat to the integrity of our elections, besides the victimization of American citizens," Rep. Biggs wrote in his letter, adding, "The gravity of the allegations and their implications demand a thorough and vigorous investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. We strongly urge an inquiry into ActBlue."
In March 2023, the O'Keefe Media Group uncovered evidence that ActBlue enabled the existence of "zombie donors," meaning unknown or anonymous individuals or entities posing as American citizens, to make illicit campaign donations because the system lacks the requirement of a CVV (credit verification value, those three digits on the back of a credit/debit card) to donate.
The following April, former Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) urged an investigation into O'Keefe's claims, saying, "ActBlue, a major fundraiser for the Democratic Party, has purportedly engaged in thousands of dollars in campaign donations through small donors, including senior citizens, via illegal contributions, without those donors' consent or awareness."
"It should come as no surprise that ActBlue serves as a vessel for fraud, considering the intentional lack of security engrained within their donation processes and systems," Rubio cynically added.
Then, in May 2023, former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced the Put Zombie Donors to Rest Act, which required all political contributions to have a billing address and a CVV.
