President Donald Trump heralded a ‘golden age for America’ as he promised advances in the economy, immigration, foreign policy and other salient policy issues during his presidential inaugural address.
President Trump, who has become only the second US president to ever hold nonconsecutive terms, laid out his vision and plan for his administration.
During the promise-filled inaugural address, Trump assured Americans he would lead improvements across all facets of life.
“During every single day of the Trump administration, I will very simply put America first,” assured Trump.
On the economy, Trump promised to levy tariffs and taxes on foreign countries “to enrich our citizens” while promising to “drill baby drill” to lower sky-rocketing energy costs.
Such a strategy, explained Trump, will enable the US to “bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again, right to the top, and export American energy all over the world.”
Regarding immigration, the President pledged strict enforcement and tightening of current immigration laws while promising to declare a national emergency vis-a-vis the southwest border migration crisis.
Trump stated he would reinstate his ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy, end catch and release, and lead a widescale deportation initiative of criminal illegal immigrants.
“All illegal entry will immediately be halted and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came,” assured Trump.
Internationally, the new Commander-in-Chief referred to his deal-making role in the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire when professing his intention of being a “peacemaker and a unifier.”
Trump also proclaimed he would be renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, regaining control of the Panama Canal, and renaming the Denali Peak to Mt. McKinley.
On social issues, the President affirmed the US’ official policy of only recognizing two genders and opposed critical race theory.
“We will forge a society that is colorblind and merit-based,” promised Trump. “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.”
