Biggs Reintroduces Bills to De-Weaponize Government

Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has reintroduced a slate of bills aimed at combating the weaponization of government seen during the Biden-Harris Administration.

The first two involve defunding the Fulton County District Attorney's Office in Georgia and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in New York City for their prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump in what many Republicans argue were politically motivated acts of lawfare.

To refresh, in August 2023, Trump and 18 co-defendants were indicted for supposedly interfering in the 2020 Election in Georgia. However, the case quickly became marred by a scandal surrounding District Attorney Fani Willis and Prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The New York case involved supposed "hush money" payments Trump made to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, which resulted in a guilty conviction on all 34 felony charges. Trump was recently sentenced to an unconditional discharge, which meant no punishment beyond upholding the conviction.

Rep. Biggs's third bill, the No Federal Funds for Political Prosecutions Act, prohibits state or local law enforcement agencies from using funds or property seized through asset forfeiture to investigate or prosecute the President, Vice President, or a candidate for the office of President in a criminal case.

Other bills include forbidding the federal government from using drones to spy on American citizens (the "Buzz Off" Act), revoking the security clearances of the 51 intelligence officials who denied the credibility of Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop ("Drain the Intelligence Community Swamp" Act), and ruling that meetings held in the District of Columbia at a federal office building between a nonprofit organization headquartered outside of the District and officials of the federal government are not considered as doing business in the District of Columbia ("Freedom to Petition the Government" Act)

Finally, Rep. Biggs also reintroduced the "Stop Woke Investing" Act, allowing businesses to reject these policy proposals and limiting the number of proposals upon which shareholders can vote to implement. Thus, the act would encourage the priority of the company's continued financial success and the interests of the shareholders.

In his press release, the Arizona Congressman condemned the weaponization of government by the Biden Administration, saying, "Americans have witnessed—and many have experienced—firsthand the perversion of justice fostered by Joe Biden and his radical cronies."

"Politically motivated prosecutors have targeted Biden's political opponents, including President-elect Donald Trump, using taxpayer dollars, while bad actors and corrupt bureaucrats were not held to account. I am committed to dismantling the weaponized DOJ and reorienting our agencies to their original purpose: protecting American citizens," Biggs concluded.
