Biggs Calls for No More Continuing Resolutions

Continuing resolutions (CR) on government spending have become a norm in Congress, a trend some House Republicans, including Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ), want to end. The Arizona Congressman posted a video to X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday evening calling for the rejection of another CR.

"Congress must not pass another CR under any circumstances. A CR would continue to fund the murder of babies by Planned Parenthood and politically-charged prosecutions of nonviolent protestors from J6. No more CRs!" Rep. Biggs posted.

In the clip, Rep. Biggs suggested Congressional Democrats were putting forth another continuing resolution in December once the current CR expires.

"Here is the problem with a continuing resolution: we keep spending at the levels that we currently are, which add $2 trillion in debt every year, and you also keep all of the programs in place. So, for instance, Planned Parenthood could continue to receive hundreds of millions of dollars to do their really aggressive abortion program," the Arizona Congressman added.

The bigger problem was that the CR would continue "going after people who paraded or walked anywhere on the Capitol grounds on January 6th, 2021. For four years, they have made this the biggest manhunt in the history of America."

Biggs noted that any protesters present on January 6th that were charged with violent assault have already been prosecuted, "but the current prosecutor is going to continue trying to indict and prosecute people through January 20th, 2025, when President Trump takes office."

"And that is why you should not be funding a CR; that is something that should not be going on, and we should be changing that. President Trump is going to have to clean that up when he gets in," Biggs concluded.

In March, Florida Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) issued a statement similarly blasting continuing resolutions, saying, "Every time we do these continuing resolutions, Congress is resolving to continue funding the government at the levels and with the priorities that Nancy Pelosi funded in them at. Now, just as I did with other votes for this continuing resolution, I voted no because I’m not here in Washington, D.C., to kick the can down the road. The American people put Republicans in charge of the House so that we can reverse Nancy Pelosi’s liberal agenda."
