Vice President Kamala Harris's handling of the southern border has been a sticking point for Republicans since she replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee. Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) discussed the impact of the border crisis on the election and in Arizona during a recent appearance on Fox Business's Evening Edit, saying a President Harris "would be a total disaster for Arizona and for the nation."
Host Elizabeth MacDonald began by playing a clip of former President Donald Trump recently claiming Harris would legalize the millions of illegal aliens allowed into the country, provide them with Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and register them to vote during a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania.
Rep. Lesko agreed, saying, "he is absolutely right. Kamala Harris loves open border policies. I mean, what, did she go there one or two times even though she was assigned to border security by President Biden? She would be a total disaster for Arizona and for the nation, as evidenced by the number of years since Biden has been in office. It has just been an open-border policy. It is bad for America."

MacDonald then played a clip of Democratic Chicago alderman Raymond Lopez recently noting that African-Americans and Hispanics are growing frustrated with the border crisis, as investment prioritizes incoming illegal aliens over constituents, before turning to how Arizona is likely to decide, via popular vote, to make illegally entering the state a crime.
Rep. Lesko suggested the measure would "pass overwhelmingly in the state."
"And it is really democratic because it allows all Arizona voters to vote for it. It is a ballot measure in November, and it is really necessary because Kamala Harris and President Biden created this border crisis. I mean, for goodness sake, [Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)] arrested somebody last week who was a serial killer from Peru that was in our country illegally. So we have a huge border crisis, and it is common sense, so I think that people will vote for it," Lesko concluded.
