Biggs, Lake, Other Republicans Blast Tim Walz as Harris's Running Mate

Vice President Kamala Harris announced her running mate Tuesday for the 2024 Presidential Election this November, selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D-MN). Republicans such as Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Kari Lake (R), who is running for Senate to represent Arizona, took to X (formerly Twitter) to react.

Both Rep. Biggs and Lake emphasized Walz seemingly enabling the 2020 riots in Minneapolis in response to the death of George Floyd by delaying the National Guard for three days and causing billions in damage.

More egregiously, Vice President Harris helped raise bail money for the rioters.

"Tim Walz let his state burn, and Kamala raised money to bail these criminals out of jail. This is the America that the radical Left wants," said Rep. Biggs on X.

Similarly, Lake lobbed an additional attack on her Democratic opponent for the Senate seat, Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ):

"While violent mobs were burning down American cities like Minneapolis, @Tim_Walz was cheering them on. @KamalaHarris was bailing them out. @RubenGallego was marching with them. Radicals," said Lake, referencing Rep. Gallego's endorsement by the Indivisible Project, a progressive organization calling for the defunding of police and abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which the Arizona Congressman accepted "with honor."

Lake made an additional pun out of Walz's name while mocking VP Harris's position as border czar, saying, "As the failed Border Czar—Kamala can now say she supports Walz. Unfortunately, not the walls that will keep Americans safe."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) similarly blasted Walz as letting the 2020 riots happen, saying in a recent address, "Those were riots that Harris egged on and raised money [for] to bail out the rioters with the Minnesota bail fund. And those are riots that Tim Walz, as governor, sat back and let happen. He sat back and let the City of Minneapolis burn."

The campaign of former President Donald Trump was equally critical, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt saying, "It's no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate. Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State."
