The United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has estimated that approximately 180,000 people illegally crossed the border into the country in April. Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) did not mince words in a statement reacting to the news, tearing into the Biden Administration and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for not passing H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, saying, "They would rather have a wide-open border than a safe America."

"Since Joe Biden took office, 11 million illegal aliens have surged across the border, including nearly 180,000 lawbreakers last month.  This does not include another two million “gotaways” who have made their way into our country undetected," said Rep. Gosar.

Additionally, the Arizona Congressman noted approximately 1,300 pounds of fentanyl, enough to kill 300 million people, was seized in April, which only serves to demonstrate how the border crisis enables the fentanyl crisis. After all, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake (R) recently launched a coalition called "Families Fighting Fentanyl" to bring awareness to the crisis as part of her election campaign, made up of families who lost a relative to the deadly drug, which kills 100,000 Americans every year and is the leading cause of death for those age 18 to 45.

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

Rep. Gosar also brought attention to the shockingly high number of known terrorists who have been encountered at the border, with 80 in 2024 alone, for a total of 330 since President Biden took office.

As a result, he blasted the President and Sen. Schumer for refusing to pass the Secure the Border Act, which the House passed in May.

"Mr.  Biden’s 94 executive actions on immigration and his failed, open border policies created the border invasion, and it is costing taxpayers $451 billion each year.  House Republicans passed a tough border security bill, H.R. 2, last May, but Senator Schumer and Joe Biden refuse to support it.  They would rather have a wide-open border than a safe America," Gosar concluded.
