Biggs Says Mayorkas 'Willfully' not Protecting Border

With the border crisis continuing to spiral out of control, House Republicans are seeking to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) appeared on Fox Business's Evening Edit to discuss, saying Mayorkas has "willfully defied the statutory obligations he has" and "willfully lied to Congress."

In addition, Rep. Biggs repeated a previous claim that authorities have lost contact with 75% of illegal immigrants processed and admitted into the country, and offered a reason why such information cannot currently be verified, namely that "The Department [of Homeland Security] itself is slow-walking whatever information they have both to the [Inspector General] and [Congress]."

Host Elizabeth MacDonald asked what "high crimes and misdemeanors" Sec. Mayorkas is guilty of committing, to which Rep. Biggs answered, "he is aiding and abetting an invasion into the country, [and] he has committed dereliction of duty."

"There is no requirement that we show a felony, but I can tell you this, he has failed to bring operational control to the border," Biggs continued, pointing out that Mayorkas had previously claimed the border is under "operational control," despite Border Patrol chiefs saying otherwise.

Furthermore, Biggs added that Mayorkas "willfully defied the statutory obligations he has" by not detaining migrants apprehended at the border, and has lied to Congress about the situation.

MacDonald then brought up a list of actions taken by the Biden Administration surrounding the border, such as halting the construction of a border wall and ending President Trump's Remain in Mexico policy.

Biggs concluded that President Biden is "actually encouraging people to come into this country illegally. The money he wants from Congress is to actually speed up the processing and distribution of these people throughout the country. We should be stopping the [non-government organization] funding, [and] we should be stopping the [United Nations] migration funding as well."

Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) similarly claimed the Biden Administration's demands for additional funds to secure the border is really to process and distribute illegal aliens faster, while Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) suggested the border crisis is intentional.
